Second Annual Pikes Peak APEX

Last year, the dark shadow of COVID-19 fell over the fledgling mountain bike race in Colorado Springs and it definitely looked like the best new athletic event to happen to our community in years could be off to a rocky start.

Rocky it was, but only because of the excellent single track our town has to offer those wishing to ply their knobby tire skills in our town. The Pikes Peak APEX utilized most of the best single track within easy driving distance of Colorado Springs and the race organizers did a bang up job of running the event so smoothly it seemed like they’d been holding the event for years.

This year should be no different. While COVID-19 still casts it’s long shadow over every community event we are involved with this year, we expect an even better event from the APEX crew than last year. Support amongst riders was stellar and the event is sure to attract a strong field of riders all competing for substantial prize money in each of the fours stages this year too!

We couldn’t be more proud to support this event and are very much looking forward to it, even though support this year is challenging for us with inventory shortages caused by the global microchip shortage. Still, we should have something cool for you to see at our booth during the Expo on Saturday the 25th in America the Beautiful Park. You’ll be able to see the all-new Subaru Outback Wilderness Edition in person at the park and talk to our welcoming staff about specifics of any Subaru model you might have questions about as well.

This year, we’ll once again be fielding a team of Subaru Support Riders on each stage of the Pikes Peak APEX as well. These riders will wear Subaru Support Rider t-shirts denoting their presence. Our Support Riders will roam each stage on the lookout for folks that might need an extra nudge of encouragement, some calories or maybe a spare part to get their bike back in the race. If you’re riding, don’t be shy about saying hi to our Support Riders if you see them and definitely let them know if they could ease your suffering in some way. They can’t ride the course for you but they can certainly solve a few issues. Since we are offering support to every rider in the race there’s no harm or penalty in asking for their assistance if it would help you.

Additionally, you’ll see our sponsored aid station up on stage 3 of the race if you happen to be riding. We’ll be handing out goodies for riders to keep them fueled and alert as they complete the biggest climb of the stage.
