Get Your Subaru Vehicle Ready for Winter at Heuberger Subaru

December 1st, 2021 by

Whether you’ll be driving locally in Colorado Springs or planning a holiday road trip, it’s important to ensure that your car or SUV is ready for the cold weather. With winter services at Heuberger Subaru, you’ll enjoy improved brake response, handling and control, and performance. Here’s a winter service checklist every Honda owner in Fort Carson should follow.

Oil Change

Cold weather can affect your car’s engine oil. Having the oil changed by one of our technicians means you’ll get rid of the dirty oil and filter and have them replaced with a clean filter and longer-lasting engine oil made to withstand winter temperatures.

Cooling System

If antifreeze becomes diluted, it can ice over when temperatures plunge. When you have your oil changed, our technicians check the antifreeze levels to ensure there’s a sufficient supply, as well as check all the parts in your cooling system—like belts and fans—making sure they’re in working condition.

Battery

Batteries may lose as much as half their power during the freezing temperatures of winter, and that is bad news for older batteries. A battery health test performed before winter rolls in will allow us to change this component out before it fails.

Tires

If driving through snow and ice is typical for you, we can help you select an excellent set of winter tires to stand up to harsh winter road conditions. If you stick with your all-weather tires, our technicians will make sure they’re in good condition, have enough air pressure, and are balanced.

Winter Wiper Blades

No matter how great your windshield wipers are, they may not be able to withstand the freezing winter temperatures, sleet, and heavy snow. When you install winter wiper blades, you’ll notice they are more durable and have increased flexibility than your standard blades.

Emergency Roadside Essentials

Every driver in the Monument area needs to prepare for unforeseen events on the road. Winter weather takes a serious toll on many of your car parts, so if you’re ever stranded, you’ll want to have some emergency items on hand. These include a fully stocked first aid kit, road flares or reflective triangles, jumper cables, a blanket, and a flashlight.

At Heuberger Subaru, we want our Fountain area customers to stay safe, so be sure to get winter maintenance done at our service center or Tire Center today.
