In case you haven’t been paying attention, let’s bring you up to speed. Heuberger Motors is super stoked to be a founding sponsor of the Pikes Peak APEX which makes its debut in September. This will bring multi-stage mountain bike racing to Colorado Springs. This three day event will bring a cadre of elite athletes from all over the world to the Pikes Peak Region. Riders will tackle the best single and double track we have to offer. Local riders know that Colorado Springs definitely has the goods when it comes to a healthy collection of nice mountain biking trails.

You don’t HAVE to be an elite athlete to enjoy this event though. The race is open to all and one great thing about this particular race is that you can pretty much ride any bike you want (sorry no e-bikes). If you feel like hopping on your single speed hard tail, you can do that. I you want to rock your long travel downhill bike you can do that too (and hats off to you for being willing to suffer).

Most riders will select either a trail bike or a cross-country bike with some suspension. While the course is mildly to moderately technical in some spots, the stages seem to lend themselves to a cross-country bike as kind of the sweet spot. However, you COULD opt to ride a different bike in each of the three stages as well.

If you want to know more about the race, check out this series of YouTube videos detailing topics like bike selection and even what to expect on different stages of the race.

See you on the trail!
